Enhancing Tabb's Profile
Creation Journey

When I joined the project, Tabb already had a passionate community of filmmakers, actors, and theatre professionals. But their first impression — the onboarding flow — didn’t match that creative energy. It felt outdated, text-heavy, and uninspiring. My goal was to change that.

PROBLEM

Outdated Onboarding Experience

The existing onboarding flow was outdated, text-heavy, and lacked several key elements now considered standard in modern onboarding processes.
Although users were able to complete onboarding, their engagement quickly dropped. Feedback highlighted issues such as:

  • Overwhelming amounts of text

  • Lack of visual clarity and modern design

  • A dated aesthetic that didn’t reflect the platform’s creative community

  • Missing contextual guidance in key steps

SOLUTION

Streamlined Onboarding

Updated the UI with modern, intuitive patterns.

  • Created a smoother, more enjoyable user experience.

  • Redesigned the flow to prioritise simplicity, speed, and engagement.

🔍 Exploration & Findings

To ensure the redesign reflected real user needs and industry best practices, I explored top creative and professional networking platforms. By reviewing their onboarding journeys and engagement strategies, I was able to benchmark Tabbs against them—highlighting where it excelled, where it fell short, and where it could stand out.

Key Insights:

1 Visual clarity and tone were misaligned with the platform’s brand promise.

2. Reducing friction early on could increase perceived value and retention.

  1. Users didn’t have difficulty understanding the flow, but felt disengaged by heavy text and an outdated UI.

Key areas to Improvements

Research revealed that Tabb needed a complete redesign. The platform lacked a centralised feed to surface opportunities and engage users, while several outdated or unused features diluted the experience. Streamlining and modernising these elements paved the way for a more focused and intuitive product.

Solving the Problem

After collecting sufficient insights, I began developing concepts to present to stakeholders aimed at improving the onboarding experience. Because they valued high-impact visuals and detailed presentations, I focused on creating precise, well-polished sketches that effectively communicated the proposed design direction.
